Stranger Things directors and producers Matt and Ross Duffer are making a screen adaptation of the Japanese anime Death Note. Deadline reports.
The Duffer studio Upside Down Pictures will work on the new project. The Death Note manga adaptation will be released on the Netflix streaming platform as a series. The release date is still unknown.
The producers noted that the new company will create stories that inspired them as children. Right now they are mainly working on the fifth season of the sci-fi horror series Stranger Things.
The first film adaptation of the famous manga directed by Adam Wingard was released on Netflix in 2017. Starring actors Nat Wolfe, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley and Lakeith Stanfield.
The original story by Japanese writer Tsugumi Oba tells of a boy named Light who finds a mysterious black notebook that brings death to anyone who is inscribed on its pages.
